How Do I Make This Jewelry?
Question by OctoberGirl: How Do I Make This Jewelry?
I want to be a jewelry designer and maker. I know I have a lot to learn first, but at some point I want to make really nice pieces from silver, gold, et cetera. Like bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. My question, though, is how do you create the actual settings? Like, if I designed a bracelet with leaf-like links that has never existed before, how do I create the bracelet? Do I have to make molds?

It would be smart to make molds of every design you come up with, so that it doesn’t take nearly as long to make your jewelry when you mass produce it. It would also be a lot easier to use molds so that you don’t spend hours and hours on one bracelet, or painstakingly etch designs into each leaf.
Try to find a place that sells molds, or that takes your metals and makes the molds and the jewelry for you. If you can’t find a place, see if there’s a college or university in your area that has a Jewelry Design program, and see if they have equipment you can use, or see where they get their designs done so that you can go there too.
Good luck with everything! I hope this little bit of information helped! ![]()
